Lazy Date Ideas For When You Want To Chill

Lazy dates are literally our absolute favorite dates. They're the ones you can still get into, even after a long ass day at work and you need to unwind together. But lazy doesn't have to equal boring!

It's not about zoning out on the couch, but about actually making a choice to do something fun. Here's some lazy date ideas to keep the connection going while keeping it chill!

There are some affiliate links below, but they are all products I highly recommend. For more info, view my disclosure.

What's a Lazy Date?

A lazy date is one of those dates that are fun, but take less than 30 min to plan and enjoy. Think quick connection, not precisely planned dinner + movie with cute outfits and timelines. Those are definitely fun and have their place, but sometimes, ya just gotta chill and snuggle.

Puzzle Date Night

I've long said puzzles are one of our absolute favorite dates. They're chill, low pressure, and good for the brain! We even got my parents into it and they have a local connection for cheap puzzles, so we all exchange them around with each other.

And when we run out of puzzles, we rent them from Completing The Puzzle, a super cool puzzle subscription service. You create a wishlist of puzzles you want to try and they'll mail them to you monthly. It's a great way to do puzzles without having dozens of boxes in the game closet.

My mom even decided Dan and I need an extra challenge with the last two puzzles she gave us. She packed both 1000 piece puzzles into one bag so we'll have to separate them before/while putting them together. PLEASE SEND HELP LOL

Blanket Fort

Channel your inner kids and make a blanket fort! Rearrange the furniture and grab a whole buncha sheets, blankets, and comforters. Get some added height by dragging over dining room chairs, Then snuggle up inside, put a movie on your laptop, and grab some popcorn!

Indoor Camping

Upgrade your blanket fort by turning it into a full indoor camping date night. Pull out some LED candles, throw down a cozy blanket inside, and have a camping picnic. Grab some finger foods or a mini-charcuterie setup and snack away!

virtual travel date night

Virtual Travel Date

A fancy vacation not in the cards at the moment? We've been there. We're still dreaming of our ideal Iceland vacay (hopefully next year will be the one!). In the meantime, a virtual travel date helps ease the wanderlust.

You can start by picking your dream destination and fully immersing yourselves in it during a date night. I'm talking planning a meal based on the location, grabbing or mixing drinks based on the area, and watching YouTube walkthroughs of the city.

Grab a notebook or my Travel Planner for Couples and take notes of where you want to stop by, tourist spots that look fun, the works! Then when you finally get to make it happen, half the planning is already done!

Vibrant breakfast with eggs, fruits, toast, and coffee for a wholesome start.

Breakfast-for-Dinner Date

Why deal with making a fancy meal when you can have a breakfast-for-dinner date? This is our go-to when we're tired, hungry, and want some comfort food. Pancakes, bacon, eggs, waffles, whatever you're in the mood for. If you have OJ and champagne or sparkling wine, pour some mimosas for a bit of elegance.

Picnic Date

A picnic date is a classic for a good reason. It's way romantic, easy, and cozy. It's also how Dan proposed to me on Cocoa Beach! He packed all my favorite foods and drinks and had me meet him there near sunset. It was amazing, so picnics are still our top dates.

When we lived in Florida we'd have Publix picnics by grabbing a box of fried chicken, potato salad, sweet tea, and my favorite Publix chocolate chip cookies. A 10 minute shopping trip and a blanket made for an amazingly simple date!

Plan the perfect picnic with yummy sandwiches and snacks like cheese and crackers or chips. Bring a sweet dessert like cookies or macarons to finish it off. Head out to your favorite park, beach, or keep it close in your backyard. Whichever you choose will be fun!

Pizza Date

Pizza is one of the most customizable dishes, and turning it into a pizza date night means you can both get creative and make your favorite versions. Craving a white pizza with basil? Go for it! Want to top it with all the meats? Have fun! Pineapple on top? Go for it, no judgement! Or if you just want to keep things easy, order in!

Coffee Date

A coffee date is one of the sweetest, easiest dates. Sitting outside your favorite cafe together while people watching and chatting is the best! Share a pastry and enjoy the fresh air outside if the weather is nice.

If you're coffee lovers, upgrade your home coffee experience by filling up your coffee bar with tasty beans, creamer flavors, and syrups and toppers. Then you can have romantic coffee dates any time you want!

Tea Tasting Date

Tea for two, please? I've been fighting a cold/sinus infection for two weeks now, so we've been having lots of tea tasting dates!

Tea is such a classic, but there are so many varieties to sample and enjoy. You can go with herbal teas or experiment with different flavored varieties like salted caramel tea, ginger peach, or whatever calls to you.

Ice Cream Date

An ice cream date is a cool way to wrap up your lazy date. Hit up a local soft-serve place (bonus points if it's in walking distance) and grab a cone. Or run into the grocery store, grab a couple pints and eat it in bed together while chatting and snuggling.

Outdoor Date Ideas

Want to stretch your legs, but still feeling a little lazy? These outdoor lazy dates are fun ways to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and each other without breaking a sweat.

Color Walk Date

Want to stretch your legs and get outside for a bit? Head out on a color walk date! It's where you pick a color, head out on a walk, and look for things in that color. It could be flowers, signs, cars, murals, birds, anything that catches your eye in that chosen color. Then point them out to each other or take photos to keep track.

Bird Watching Date

Speaking of birds, a bird watching date is such a fun way to connect with nature and have a cozy date that's low-pressure.

Grab a blanket, binoculars, and settle in to watch birds fly around. You can compete to see who takes the best pics of the cute birds you see, or add this to a color walk date above!

Stargazing Date

I'm 100% a space geek. I mean, I grew up on the Space Coast of Florida, so it's kind of embedded in my DNA! A stargazing date is one of the most romantic dates you can do with minimal effort.

If it's a clear night, grab a couple blankets and lay under the stars. If you live near a Dark Sky area, you'll have the best chances to see stars with less light pollution. You can even pick up a beginner's telescope for even better views and more fun.

How to Plan a Lazy Date

The best part of a lazy date is that it takes minimal planning. Some of the dates above can be done with just a few minutes notice. Look outside and the night sky is nice and clear? Grab a blanket or two and head to your backyard.

Hungry, but don't know what to make for dinner? Breakfast-for-dinner can be pulled together pretty quickly.

Bored? Pull out a puzzle and settle around the table to put it together. Play some relaxing music as background noise and you've got a date to remember.
