As someone who plays golf often, I've tried most of these golf date ideas with my wife. Personally, I enjoy a little friendly competition and some trash-talking so we've tried most of these. Despite living in New England (with our cold weather) there are plenty of opportunities to play year-round.

Golf continues to grow in popularity so why not try these are your next date night activity?

Mini Golf Date Night

The first golf date idea is playing a round of mini golf. A miniature golf course is a great first-date spot since it's a low-stakes, casual game. You and your date can play a game of mini golf and enjoy the ice cream or snacks at the outdoor course. There is a reason why mini-golf is at the top of so many lists as a great first-date spot.

It is easy to get over those first date jitters and small talk when you are trying to put a neon golf ball through a pirate ship. In the early stages of a relationship, it helps to have a fun place to go so you don't put too much pressure on the date.

Mini golf is also a less physically strenuous date idea than the other golf dates on this list. It caters to all skill levels and it is easier to get an elusive hole-in-one at a mini-golf course.

The last time we played was at a mini golf course on Cape Cod. It was the perfect mini golf course because it was in a marketplace with lots of shops and places to eat after the game. It was the perfect setting for our day date and a great way to spend some quality time together.

We enjoy the playful challenge and fun trash-talking during our mini-golf date. But the best thing was despite her fierce competitive nature, I still won and had bragging rights. And the loser had to pay for the post-game ice cream. We take our mini-golf very seriously – pretty sure I still have the scorecard!

Indoor Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Golf

If you enjoy traditional mini golf, then why not try indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf for your next date? Glow-in-the-dark mini golf is exactly what you'd expect – an interactive, tech-infused black light experience that is sure to be a fun evening and add an extra layer of excitement.

One of these facilities opened near me in Boston, and they have live music, arcade games, and different themed nights. One thing that is nice about the indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf, is you don't have to worry about the weather, like you do with traditional mini golf.

But I do wonder if it would be tough to have a natural conversation if you had to yell over the music and the (loud) but fun games. But then again, you wouldn't have to worry about the awkward silences right? Either way, it would be a fun activity and you could make some lasting memories on a glow-in-the-dark date.

Top Golf

Next up for golf date ideas is going to an interactive driving range. Yes, you can go to a traditional driving range but I prefer a high-tech driving range like Top Golf. Top Golf bills itself as a “sports entertainment complex that features an inclusive, high-tech golf game that everyone can enjoy”.

Unlike traditional driving ranges, Top Golf has food and drink options on-site. I think Top Golf is more suited for group dates since you have to rent out a bay and it would be pricey with only two people. But we went to Top Golf with a group of friends and had a great time.

You rent the heated bay for two hours and it comes with a server so you can order food and drinks. There are also interactive games like Angry Birds or you can test your accuracy by trying to hit in the target. Top Golf has screens where you can watch the distance your golf ball travels which is cool to see. We had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back.

Indoor Golf Simulator

Indoor golf simulators provide an interactive and entertaining experience. They allow you to play together in a controlled environment, making it a fun and engaging golf date activity.

Unlike mini golf or playing traditional golf, you don't have to worry about the weather since everything is inside. Yes, I do mention weather frequently because here in Massachusetts, it impacts what type of golf you can play.

Golf simulators often have a relaxed and casual atmosphere, providing a comfortable setting for conversation and getting to know each other better. It's also a less formal environment compared to traditional golf courses.

Many indoor golf facilities have accompanying lounges or cafes where you can enjoy food and drinks. This provides an opportunity to extend the date, share a meal, and continue your conversation.

If one or both of you are new to golf, an indoor simulator provides a low-pressure environment to learn and practice together. Indoor golf simulators also provide real-time data that you won't get from a round of golf, which can be a great thing when you are just learning how to play.

Golf

Our final golf date idea is playing a traditional round of golf at a local course. Between coastal golf courses on Cape Cod and the scenic mountain courses in Vermont, there are stunning courses to choose from in New England.

Golf courses are often set in picturesque landscapes with lush greenery and beautiful views. This provides a serene and visually appealing setting, which can take your date to the next level. Golf allows for a friendly competition between you and your date. It can add a playful and enjoyable element to the game, creating memorable experiences.

Golf also takes time, and a round of golf provides opportunities to learn more about each other – just don't talk while your date is teeing up. You can opt to play 9 or 18 holes of golf, based on your skill level.

Many golf courses have nice clubhouses where you can unwind at the end of the game. This provides a chance to continue your date with a meal, drinks, or simply relax in a comfortable setting. I've had some of the best food, and my favorite cocktail “The Transfusion”, at golf courses.

These golf date ideas offer unique experiences beyond the traditional dinner-and-movie night. Whether navigating a colorful mini-golf course, perfecting swings at the driving range, immersing in the virtual world of an indoor simulator, or enjoying the natural beauty of a golf course, these golf date ideas create memorable moments.

The next time you are planning a date, why not consider one of these golf date ideas to add a layer of competition and excitement?
